AFTERCARE & CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
Congratulations On Your New Floor!
Your new floor is built for durability, but proper care helps ensure it stays that way.
TAK Floor Coatings installs professional epoxy and polyaspartic floor systems designed to be low maintenance, long-lasting, and easy to clean. Following the guidelines below will help protect your investment, maintain appearance, and support long-term performance.

Immediately After Installation (Cure Time Guidelines)
Allowing proper cure time after installation is critical for long-term performance.
Typical Cure Time Guidelines
(Exact timing may vary based on system and site conditions. Always follow your installer’s specific instructions.)
Foot Traffic
Light foot traffic: Wait at least 24 hours
Vehicle Traffic
Driving or parking vehicles: Wait at least 72 hours
Heavy Items or Equipment
Heavy equipment or furniture: Wait 72–96 hours
Avoid dragging items or placing heavy loads on the surface during curing. Proper cure time ensures optimal adhesion, durability, and finish.
Everyday Maintenance
Routine care keeps your floor looking clean and professional.
Sweep or Vacuum Regularly
- Use a soft-bristle broom or microfiber dust mop
- A vacuum with a soft floor attachment works well for edges and corners
- Removing debris helps prevent surface scratching over time
Spot Clean Spills Promptly
- Wipe up oil, grease, gasoline, food, or liquid spills as soon as possible
- Use paper towels or a soft cloth
- Follow with warm water and a mild detergent if needed
While epoxy and polyaspartic systems are highly resistant, quick cleanup helps preserve appearance and safety.
Routine Cleaning
For regular cleaning:
- Mop using warm water and a pH-neutral or mild detergent
- Mild dish soap diluted with water is acceptable
- Rinse with clean water if residue remains
- Allow the floor to air dry or dry with a microfiber mop
No specialty cleaners are required.
What to Avoid When Cleaning
To protect the finish and performance of your floor, avoid:
- Abrasive scrubbers or scouring pads
- Steel wool
- Vinegar, bleach, or acidic cleaners
- Harsh degreasers not designed for sealed floors
- Overly aggressive citrus-based cleaners
Using improper products can dull the finish and reduce the lifespan of the coating.
Deep Cleaning (As Needed)
Occasional deeper cleaning may be helpful in high-traffic or commercial environments.
- Use a mop and a mild cleaner designed for sealed surfaces
- Auto scrubbers or pressure washers may be used on low settings only
- Rinse thoroughly and avoid leaving standing water
Always allow the floor to dry completely after cleaning.
Protecting Your Floor
While TAK Floor Coatings floors are built for durability, preventative care helps extend their life.
We recommend:
- Using rubber-backed mats under vehicles or heavy equipment
- Placing mats or carpet runners in high-traffic work areas
- Avoiding dropping heavy objects or dragging sharp tools
- Using felt pads or rubber protectors under furniture and machinery
Always allow the floor to dry completely after cleaning.
Tire Marks, Scuffs & Chemical Spills
Tire Marks
- Use a soft brush and a gentle degreaser or mild citrus-based cleaner
- Scrub lightly and rinse with clean water
- Avoid harsh chemicals or aggressive scrubbing
Chemical or Solvent Spills
- Clean immediately using paper towels or a soft cloth
- Wash the area with warm water and a mild cleaner
- Prompt cleanup helps prevent staining or surface damage
Environmental Considerations
UV Exposure
Polyaspartic coatings are UV-stable and resist yellowing, but prolonged, intense sunlight may cause minor changes over time.
Use window coverings or UV-protective film when possible
Reapplying a Topcoat (Long-Term Care)
In extreme use environments or very high-traffic areas, the protective topcoat may gradually wear over time.
- Reapplying a topcoat may be recommended after 10 years, depending on use
- This helps restore gloss and maintain long-term durability
TAK Floor Coatings can assess wear and provide recommendations when needed.
